the case and motherboard im getting for sure. minus a rom drive i already have, and usuing the onboard video for the time being, till i get more money this will be the rest of the parts i get for my new gaming rig.

Modular power supply just means you can plug only the cables you need into the supply! A power supply is a power supply now a days since they are all ATX. No issues with the setup you posted...
