Black Country T-shirts - How it All Began!
If you've seen people walking around areas like Dudley, Wolverhampton, Stourbridge, Tipton and Cradley Heath wearing t-shirts printed with words such as "Yow Cor Spake Propa", "Ar Bay A Brummie, I'm from the Black Country", and "You'm Avin a Loff", then you probably wondered where they got them from.
Well, they're from a website called TeetShirts - if you go to Google and search for them, you'll find them straight away. There's also a link at the bottom of this article to take you there.
TeetShirts was started in 2007 by a pair of schoolfriends Warren Smith and Steve Pitts. They were sat in their local pub one evening, talking about what they wanted to do with their lives, and then suddenly the idea of Black Country T-Shirts came to them. T-Shirts printed with slogans showing pride in the Black Country.... they quickly set up a shop and it took off in a big way, and very quickly.
As well as selling t-shirts bearing Black Country slogans, they also make t-shirts for stag and hen parties, staff uniforms, and birthdays & holidays. Whatever you need printed on a t-shirt, they can do!
The guys have also been featured on national radio and local television thanks to their Black Country Alphabet song, with a video featuring t-shirts with slogans such as "B is for Nana", "H is for Oss", "P is for Tateer" and "U is for Um".
So, if you're looking for an original gift idea, why not grab a Black Country T-shirt from TeetShirts!

Riding Lessons And Trail Rides
She tossed back her blond hair as she stood in the windy ring. Staring down at her brown boots, she thought about the pair of expensive cowboy boots she wanted. They were gleaming black with inlaid patterns in aqua blue. She smiled as she thought about all the kids making jokes about wanting the fanciest boots. All they could afford were another brand, less expensive but not bad looking.
At the gate were Eric and his mother. He couldn't wait for his riding lesson to start. He walked over to her and she put the horse's reins over his head. She walked to the left side of the horse with little Eric. He listened to every word she said as she helped him mount up. They proceeded to walk around the ring.
His mother waved from the other side of the fence. The blond riding instructor smiled at her. Now turning her attention to Eric, she started the lesson. She explained what neck reining is and how to lean your weight in the direction you turn the horse in. He was doing very well.
His mom recalled the first day she had brought Eric to the riding academy for lessons. They chatted amicably as Eric watched the horses. She mentioned she also had an interest in horses. She thought bouncing around on the back of the horse was how to lose tummy fat. The instructor said the mom didn't look overweight at all.
They scheduled a series of six riding lessons for Eric and signed for the credit card. They planned on riding the bridle paths together after the lessons were over. They could then go out on the bridle paths where you could ride unconfined by fences. There was a one hour or two hour trail ride.
There was a nice rest area at the end of the one-hour ride and another at the end of the two-hour ride. Usually they could canter into the rest stop safely no matter how inexperienced the riders were. The livery horses stopped automatically when they got into the rest area.
They could dismount and let the horses graze as they sat on the grass. She always had everyone pull the reins over the horses' heads and hold the reins. They all enjoy the few minutes talking about the horses and the fun of riding them.
After Eric's lessons were completed he was able to start, stop and turn the horse. He could mount up on his own. He understood how neck reining worked and how to move his weight in the saddle when he turned the horse. He was confident of his riding abilities and confident about trail riding. Next week they were going out on a trail ride. Eric's mom jokingly said she would find out if horseback riding was how to reduce tummy fat.
What are the chances of getting a black overo from a dark bay?
I have a dark bay filly paint breedstock I want to breed to a black overo. What are the chances of getting an overo foal, and what are the chances of it being black instead of bay? I know bay is a very dominate color marking. My filly's dam is a AQHA chestnut, and her sire is a APHA tobiano dark bay. I'd really like an overo foal from her, but I want to be realistic on the genetic side of it. Please help, thanks.
depends on the stallions genetic make up. if hes heterozygous overo you have a 50/50 chance of getting an overo. your mare is a red carrier and depending on the stallions status he may be too. if he is heterozygous you have a 25% chance of getting a red based foal and a 75% chance of getting a black based foal. if your mare is heterozygous for the bay/agouti gene then half of the black based foals will be bay.
1) so if your mare is heterozygous bay and the sire is heterozygous black and paint you will get
12.5% chestnut/sorrel
12.5% chestnut/sorrel overo
18.75% black
18.75 black overo
18.75% bay
18.75% bay overo
2) now if the stud is homozygous black but hetero paint (still assuming mare is hetero bay) you will get
25% black
25% black overo
25% bay
25% bay overo
3)if the stud is hetero black but homo paint you will get
25% chestnut/sorrel overo
37.5% bay overo
37.5% black overo
4) if stud is homo black and paint you will get
50% black overo
50% bay overo
if your mare is homozygous bay you will never get a black foal regardless of sire. so the new percentages in that case are
1) 12.5% chestnut/sorrel
12.5% chestnut/sorrel overo
37.5% bay
37.5% bay overo
2) 50% bay
50% bay overo
3) 25% chestnut/sorrel overo
75% bay overo
4) 100% bay overo
hope this helps
