It normally does not make sense to invest in costly production machines if you simply want to spin a small number of prototypes and instead outsource your manufacturing of PCB prototypes to a trustworthy vendor. I will offer some advice as to what to watch out for when trying to find a contract manufacturer.
Numerous contract manufacturers will offer an instantaneous quotation mechanism on their website for manufacture of circuit boards and assembly of prototypes. This will save you time when evaluating various vendors. You should be able to enter all of the board information including board thickness, material etc. and special requirements such as milling, surface treatments into the quote system. This will make certain an accurate quote without the risk of surcharges afterward.
The per-board cost will generally decrease with increasing quantity as a result of the manufacturing setup cost. A few manufacturers will utilize a system where they combine boards from several clients. By doing this the setup expense will be distributed amongst numerous customers. When you are still in the design phase of your product, you do not wish to spin a high quantity of boards at first. As soon as you refine your design you may gradually want to increase the board quantity.
One limiting factor with small-quantity prototypes still is that the choice of materials and material thicknesses will be restricted. When subcontracting PCB assembly, make sure that your vendor can mount all of the package types that your board uses. Some vendors can't mount particular type of IC packages such as BGA, chip-scale packages or extremely small component types. Contact your supplier if you have questions about what type of components can be assembled. That will avoid problems later on.
Some manufacturers will have inventory of commonly used components which you can pull from instead of purchasing each component yourself. Be sure to specify which parts you wish to consign yourself when you upload your bill of materials.
Most manufacturers will also offer manufacture of the SMT stencil which is required for PCB assembly. Ensure to order the stencil right away when purchasing the circuit boards themselves to avoid delays.
To guarantee quality, ensure that your vendor carries the usual quality approvals. In addition, if your board requires special testing, make certain your supplier has appropriate testing equipment. Some testing will require additional time and cost.

It's not really news that **Seattle Central** wants Occupy Seattle off its
campus -- the school's administration said please don't camp here from the
start. It is news that the school says it is working with the Washington
Attorney General's office to boot the Occupiers from Broadway and Pine.
We don't have many details yet but the effort is being talked about by SCCC in
Seattle's big media outlets. Fed up with costs, college wants Occupy Seattle
out, KING 5 reports. Meanwhile, the PI gets a headline every few days by
updating the running tally of "Occupy Seattle costs" -- now more than $500,000
if you're keeping score at home.
